AB - Coincident stereo microphone techniques that can be used for three-channel frontal playback are analyzed and described, based on the three-channel psychoacoustic panning law devised by Gerzon. For each configuration giving rise to appropriate gain and phase relationships, the recording angle, angular distortion, and reverberation distribution is analyzed. Experimental recordings using some of the most successful arrays are discussed.
