Design and Implementation of an Audio Reproduction System Based on Wave Field Synthesis

The paper proposes an audio reproduction system based on the concept of wave field synthesis. This concept guarantees correct spatial and temporal sound field reproduction in a large listening area. The newly built reproduction system consists of several loudspeaker arrays fed by a wave field processor. The system is capable of placing virtual sources anywhere in 2-D space, generating direct sound, reflections, and reverberation. The paper focuses on the practical implementation of the system.
