On the Loudspeaker Directivity Considerations for 5.1-Channel Audio-Visual Reproduction: A Subjective Appraisal

The paper examines a group of subjective experiments, considering the loudspeaker directivity characteristics for 5.1-channel audio-visual reproduction. A large number of tests were performed with a screened and trained listening panel. The effects of listening position, loudspeaker directivity, and program were examined. Both the frontal and surround loudspeaker directivity characteristics are considered separately.
