The development of low-cost DAB receivers requires the availability of cheap components. The baseband DSP functions of a DAB receiver represent a high proportion of the system cost. The options for cost reduction of the DSP functions are considered, with emphasis on the benefits of integration of functions onto one chip. The advantages and disadvantages of different approaches are presented, and examples of device configurations are given to illustrate what is possible.
