Perception of Timbre of Reproduced Sound in Small Rooms: Influence of Room and Loudspeaker Position

Authors: Bech, Søren

Journal of the Audio Engineering Society · Volume 42 · Issue 12 · pp. 999–1007 · December 1994

Abstract

A round robin test has been conducted to examine the influence of the room and the loudspeaker position on the fidelity of the timbre of the reproduced sound. The experiment included three rooms, three loudspeaker positions, four loudspeakers, four programs, and six subjects. The results have shown that the room and the loudspeaker position will influence the absolute level of fidelity of the reproduced sound as well as relative differences between different loudspeakers or different positions.
