Stereo sound produced for television may be reproduced in one, two, three, or four channels. Most recordings are made without the possibility of postproduction, due to lack of time. The requirements to the stereotechniques used are therefore: (1) ease of use and (2) a very high degree of compatibility in all reproduced formats. This paper describes a number of techniques that fulfill these demands.
