AB  - Until now, exposures to loud music are not regarded as occupational hazards. However, investigations indicate severe hearing loss resulting from long-term listening to loud music. Averaged audiograms measured on groups of students show systematically increasing permanent threshold shifts. A hypothesis is presented explaining why loud music causes PTS increase among some listeners, while exposures to similar sounds may be harmless to other people.
