A method of polynomial approximation of the spectral envelope was employed to synthesize organ pipe sounds. It has been found that the changes of the organ stop timbre can be determined by means of the calculated polynomial coefficients. Listening tests were based on the computer modeled pipe sound. Numerous experiments were carried out in order to determine subjective preferences of synthesized pipe sound.
