AB - Noise-to-mask ratio (NMR) is a perceptual measurement scheme which gives information about the distance between the actual noise and the masking threshold. It has been shown to be a useful tool in the development and comparison of perceptual coding schemes. This paper presents some perceptual experiments done with the measurement system as a test subject. The results of these measurements are compared with the results obtained with human listeners.
