Testing the Response of the Transaural Image

Central to the transaural reconstruction philosophy are the binaural design channels which facilitate presentation at the listener`s ears of appropriate time and level cues. This paper seeks to define -appropriate- in the context of testing a transaural imaging design described previously by the authors. Specifically, the time and frequency domain responses of real sources are compared to synthesized equivalents using crosscorrelation, Fourier transformation and principal components analysis to yield an objective measure of localization fidelity in psychophysical terms.
