A new system for measuring spider compliance has been developed. The measurement is fully automated and was designed to significantly improve on the EIA standard method. The new method graphically presents the operator with a plot of compliance versus displacement and utilizes curve-fitting techniques that minimize measurement errors. A study confirming the performance improvements over the EIA standard is presented.
