AES Convention 96 · Paper 3845 · February 1994

Abstract

DCC and noise-shaped CD, two recent examples of the successful application of psycho-acoustics in the field of high quality digital audio, are briefly reviewed. Their dynamic range is compared with that of conventional Compact Disc. It is explained how these systems can benefit from the availability of source material with a resolution higher than the conventional 16 bit.
