Authors: Meares, David J.

Journal of the Audio Engineering Society · Volume 37 · Issue 11 · pp. 927–933 · November 1989

Abstract

Over a period of about 9 years, the BBC has worked to improve the quality of speech sounds from diving helmets. Careful selection of equipment, detailed application of equalization, and active noise suppression are all essential in achieving the desired results. The necessary signal processing in the context of two specific series of programs is described.
