Computer Control of the Pipe Organ

The aim of the paper is to present a concept of a computer control system designed for the concert pipe-organ instrument which is under construction in the Music Center in Bielsko-Biala, Poland. As there is a tendency to separate a console from the set of pipes with its valve mechanisms, thus traditional mechanic, pneumatic or electric connections should be replaced by a more effective transmission medium, i.e. fibre-optic link. The selection of the individual control functions will be discussed. The designed circuitry and software assumptions will be presented.
