This paper introduces a new recording method that allows adjustable control of spatial effect in stereo and of surround effect in Dolby Stereo trademark and Dolby Surround trademark productions. The method is used to extract spatial information from the recording environment and optimize it, in order to reduce interference with direct sound. This results in increased clarity and intelligibility in recording while allowing for greater spatial presence. Greater audibility of the spatial context enhances the sense of musical realism and better communicates the original acoustical situation within a listening environment.
