The possibility of using fractal geometry to synthesize sound is considered and a starting point suggested. This is to use Barnsley`s Fractal Interpolation Functions, a form of his Iterated System, to generate digital signals. The theory of both these techniques is outlined and an implementation in `C` for a PC described. The results are presented graphically and their sounds assessed. The sounds are interesting and have special properties. It is concluded that this is a promising start to further investigations.
