AB - This paper describes a method of recording four channels of 16 bit audio data sampled at 44.1 kHz. The method uses existing Sony PCM 701 technology in conjunction with conventional VCR's. The paper describes the techniques used to achieve this, including the methods of synchronizing the two units, the techniques for encoding and decoding the multiplexed data, concluding with a brief summary of application areas.
