A PC Controlled Signal Processing and Sound Distributing System

The paper describes design principles and operating features of a digital sound processing and distributing system. The software modules (realized in high level language for the user interface and assembly language for the internal communication and processing algorithms) are presented. At present the system contains 16 channels, each based on a versatile signal processor module. The parameters for signal shaping and mixing are defined by the user through easy to handle software based on graphic symbols (suited for non-technical users). Data is transferred from the PC over a bus system to the processing modules. Digital to analog converters deliver the processed and mixed signals to the power amplifiers.
