The fields of audio and room acoustics are approaching each other rapidly these years: more and more audio equipment is being installed in concert halls and theaters, and great efforts are made to create better room acoustic illusions in home listening; but do we agree on where we are going? On this background, goals, problems, and current trends in room acoustics research are presented.
