AB - The continued fraction solution of the Riccati equation leads to equivalent circuits for acoustic horns of arbitrary shape. The elements of the circuits depend only on the geometric shape. Advantages and disadvantages of circuits equivalent to the input impedance and circuits equivalent to the transmission through horns are discussed. Numerical calculations are shown to be very easy, even for dissipative horns. Finally, the example of an application to the design of musical wind instruments is given.
