Digital Audio Processing on a Grand Scale

Authors: Eastty, Peter

AES Convention 81 · Paper 2381 · November 1986

Abstract

Audio mixing consoles are enormous signal processors, traditionally made of vast quantities of diverse analog electronics. A digital equivalent can require over 10^9 instructions per second. Making reliable, affordable, and easily programmed processors of this speed presents many intricate engineering problems. These problems and some approaches to their solutions are discussed.
