A central cluster type of loudspeaker is preferred for sound reinforcement whenever it is suitable. Of the several factors affecting its suitability, the most difficult to evaluate is room reverberation. Now, a simplified technique provides an accurate prediction of the speech intelligibility potential in a given room. If there is too much reverberation, this technique will predict how much additional room absorption is needed.
