Loudspeaker System Design Method for Large Rooms

Large facilities are being built which can be used for various purposes including sports, in replacement of the conventional multipurpose halls. Sound reinforcement using electric sound devices is indispensable for transmitting information in such large spaces. The design of electronic sound devices for large spaces, the composition of their speaker systems in particular, is highly complicated compared with that for ordinary multipurpose halls. In the field of electric sound devices, there has not yet been organized a simulative method which can design the system synthetically. I will explain using examples of the method developed for cover areas applying isober contour of constant directivity phone speakers on the basis of a simulative method of an indoor sound design, as well as the level distribution of sound pressure using data of the three-dimensional directivity of sound source, and a simulative method of echo time pattern.
