Convention Paper

Improved Hands-Free Microphone for Automotive Communications

Authors: Anderson, C. Roger

AES Convention 83 · Paper 2536 · October 1987

Abstract

This paper discusses the points considered in designing an effective hands-free microphone system for use in an automobile. Most cellular telephones offer a "hands-free" option, but an alarming number of subscribers use handsets while driving in traffic. A contributing factor may be that the performance of the "hands-free" unit generally is not as intelligible as the handset.
