A general method of designing lossy passive-radiator loudspeaker systems is described. The process followed allows to take into account any value of the total enclosure loss Q as well as to consider those systems where the passive-radiator and the driver are made from different frames and their suspension compliances do not coincide. The study of the system by means of an equivalent L-C network shows that under certain conditions more stringent than in vented-box systems the shape of the system response characteristic is practically insensitive to variations of total driver Q.
