Current sound reinforcement loudspeaker systems generally use conventional technologies. New developments are concentrated mainly on advancement in applied materials but the operating principles have not been changed since the "Jazz singer." In the described system, the commonly used compression driver is replaced by a high output, ribbon-kind of mid/high frequency unit. The application of this unit results in an extreme bandwidth and transient response, combined with a low acoustical distortion even at full acoustic output. In addition, the system is equipped with a microprocessor controlled amplifier/crossover module which, besides intelligent protection algorithms, offers the possibility of full remote control using a specially designed computer interface. Using this remote control one can manipulate the directivity of a cluster existing of multiple systems by manipulating the individual settings of level and polarity.
