Acoustic Radiation of a Cone-Type Loudspeaker by the Finite Element Method--Acoustic Characteristics and Sound Field Display

The acoustic characteristics of an axisymmetric cone-type loudspeaker mounted in a rigid infinite baffle is calculated by applying the finite element method to the elastic shells (cone, edge, etc.) and the acoustic concavity in front of the shells. Normalized sound-pressure response, directivity function, driving point impedance, vibration behavior of the cone-diaphragm, sound-pressure distribution in the concavity, and near-field and far-field acoustic radiation are presented for discussion. The sound pressure distribution in the concavity and the near-field are clearly visualized by the computer graphics technique. The calculated results are compared with the measured values of the far-field sound-pressure responses and the electrical impedance responses.
