Amplitude Control of Loudspeaker Cone Motion in the Resonance Frequency Range

Authors: Trautman, Walter C.

Journal of the Audio Engineering Society · Volume 9 · Issue 4 · pp. 260–263 · October 1961

Abstract

Cone loudspeakers exhibit a peak impedance at their resonant frequency, resulting in poor power transfer and high distortion in this frequency range. The development and performance of a new speaker with integral, non-electrical means for minimizing this impedance peak, without dependency upon associated enclosures, is described. Electro-acoustic efficiency at all frequencies above the resonance range is not adversely affected.
