Controlling Sound-Image Localization in Stereophonic Reproduction: II

A technique to localize a sound image in any desired direction has been examined in psychoacoustical experiments. The technique uses two-loudspeaker stereophony and was described theoretically in Part 1. Effects of room acoustics and listening positions are discussed. Results show that horizontal sound localization in all directions from a listener is possible, except for the back-center direction, provided the normal listening conditions for conventional stereophony are preserved.
