Pressure transducers suitably implanted in mouthpieces are commonly used as input devices for synthesizers in popular musical groups. Mouthpiece signals are generally characterized by simple waveforms and are unaffected by room ambient conditions. Moreover, their analysis simultaneously with the output signals reveals interesting nonlinear and filter characteristics which can be used to synthesize the tones.
