The multi-dimensionality of directivity is discussed, and reasons for its considerations are developed. A method for the development of a `required directivity` function is presented, and used to derive a particular solution procedure. A simple practical example is calculated. The directivity of a single point array is explored, and a simple procedure for approximating the directivity is described.
