Slewing Distortion in Digital-to-Analog Conversion

It is well known that digital audio processing can give rise to distortions due to the sampling process if proper design precautions are not taken. The mechanisms for these distortions, however, are less clearly understood. One such mechanism is slew rate limiting in digital-to-analog conversion. The character of this distortion is not amenable to most classical analyses. This paper puts forth a simplified model for slewing distortion. This model is useful for actual calculation, but more importantly, it is useful conceptually in providing a workable abstraction of a rather complex mechanism.
