The Effect on Speech Words of Modulating the Temporal Pattern of Infinitely Clipped Speech

Authors: Menkiti, Alex I.

Journal of the Audio Engineering Society · Volume 26 · Issue 6 · pp. 448–450 · June 1978

Abstract

The effect of modulating the temporal pattern of some infinitely clipped speech words was examined. Many words change their power spectrum structure as a result of the modulation, and some become different words entirely. Thus altering the temporal pattern of infinitely clipped speech words can result in entirely new words and, therefore, a loss of intelligibility.
