Auto Q: A New Directivity Measurement System

Current methods of determining horn loudspeaker directivity factors involve difficult test procedure and/or tedious mathematical distillations of directivity data. A new method, called Auto-Q, simultaneously compares horn throat pressure to on-axis pressure. This, along with several well-defined correction factors can be translated directly into any of the popular directivity factors. Using the described instrumentation, directivity factor response curves may be run as one normally runs pink noise or sine wave response curves.
