Convention Paper

An Analysis of the Steady State Behavior of Tape Cartridges

Authors: Ratcliffe, A. F. Rick

AES Convention 60 · Paper 1363 · May 1978

Abstract

The paper states and solves the differential equations relating tape tension to the radius of each section of the tape length. On the assumption that the cartridge is functioning in a steady state mode, it develops relations between the existing tape tension and the various tape parameters, e.g., friction coefficients, tape length, turntable radius, etc.
