A Floating-Point Digitally Transcribed High-Fidelity Audio Mixing System

A system capable of scaling and summation of two`s complement floating-point encoded signals is presented. The method used to assign exponent values to computed quantities is of prime importance; envelope control eliminates zero-crossing non-linearities by using the psychoacoustic property referred to as finite recovery time. Proper selection of radix (gain step) value can reduce arithmetics hardware considerably.
