AB - A specially designed three-tone intermodulation test for transient intermodulation distortion (TIM) is proposed. The test employs three tones to simultaneously produce even-order difference and odd-order triple beat distortion products near 1 kHz, and results in extremely simple, yet sensitive instrumentation. A significant advantage of the test is that the stimulus and response both lie in-band.
