Hearing Damage from Music: U.K. Experience

Authors: Burd, Alex

AES Convention 48 · Paper 965 · May 1974

Abstract

Studies of the hearing damage resulting from exposure to music in studios, clubs, discotheques, etc., have produced contradictory results. Some of the studies show evidence of hearing loss increasing with exposure while other work on subjects that might be expected to show substantial changes prove negative. Action of a limited extent has been taken in England based loosely on industrial experience and this will be discussed.
