Synthetic Cues in Binaural Localization

Authors: Lawton, Jeffrey C.

AES Convention 54 · Paper 1099 · May 1976

Abstract

The goal of accurate sound reproduction can effectively be achieved by reproducing the illusion of the acoustic event instead of the event instead. In some cases, synthetic binaural cues are not only easier to implement, but they can also be stronger than natural cues. An example of a derived binaural headphone system will be discussed.
