Microcomputer Application to Console Automation

The solution to a problem is partially in how it is defined. The design of a console automation system is bound by the system definition and performance requirements. The system presented in this paper could have been implemented years ago with minicomputers, but the cost would have been prohibitive. Only this year have microcomputers and microcomputer peripherals become available at moderate prices.
