Automated soundstage tuning in cars

Soundstage tuning of a car audio system aims to compensate for the deviations of spectral balance and soundstage from a desired response. In this work we present an automated procedure for the optimization of time delays, channel levels and digital equalization filters, specifically a cascade connection of second-order IIR filters. The proposed procedure integrates the time alignment, level alignment and channel equalizer design steps into a common framework. Examples of car audio system tuning are provided and both objective and subjective results are presented.
