Abstract

In this contribution we present a methodology to virtualize loudspeaker systems featuring a digital model of the nonlinear behavior of the transducer and its enclosure. This approach enables the application of specific target behaviors to physical systems; deviations of the nonlinear parameters of the physical system are accommodated using an estimator driving the nonlinear inverse model. As an example, the proposed methodology can be applied to deliver from small speaker enclosures a sound pressure comparable to larger systems while providing protection, enforcing both sound quality and system reliability. We present some case studies to demonstrate the wide range of applications of the proposed technique.
