Acoustic enhancement systems have gained popularity in recent years and are broadly used in various types of facilities because of their acoustic naturalness and system stability. To effectively enhance several acoustic parameters of a room, general early reflections and reverberation are separately controlled in acoustic enhancement systems. In particular, early reflections play a vital role in determining the spatial impressions of the listeners. This study was performed to investigate an effective method for controlling early reflections. Herein, three methods for controlling early reflections using finite impulse response filters based on acoustic measurement results in an auditorium were constructed in the same reproduction space. The characteristics of these systems were assessed via acoustic measurements and subjective evaluation experiments.
