Recently, a new Ambisonic decoding method, the partially matching projection decoding (PMPD) method, has been proposed for irregular loudspeaker layouts. This method, however, works only with real-valued Ambisonic signals. This shortage limits the usage of this method with near-field reproduction problems. In this paper, we propose two modifications, the change of criteria to choose loudspeakers when projecting the target and the change of termination condition, to the previous method to make it works for the complex-valued near-field compensated Ambisonic signals. Two evaluation experiments were conducted to test the performance of the modified PMPD method with different loudspeaker layouts. The results showed that the modified PMPD method is available for reproducing near-field sound sources with both irregular and regular loudspeaker layouts.
