Abstract

Personal audio systems provide an acoustically private space by increasing the acoustic isolation between the bright zone and the dark zone. Multichannel FIR ?lter is designed for the acoustic isolation by suggesting a target optimization problem and obtaining an optimum solution. As a practical attempt to implement a personal audio system, this paper proposes use of a gradient descent optimizer to computationally ?nd the optimal multichannel FIR ?lter. The gradient descent optimizer minimizes the de?ned cost function based on the gradient. The cost function described in this paper is induced from the target optimization problem of the acoustic contrast control method. Experimental results in a real environment demonstrate the effectiveness of this method as achieving more than 20 dB difference at most frequencies under 8 kHz.
