Line Arrays with Controllable Directional Characteristics—Theory and Practice

The first part of this presentation will describe some theoretical and practical design criteria for a speaker line array with controllable directivity. The second part will describe some of the techniques and simulation tools used during the design of a wideband line array. A demonstration will be given showing how the array beam width and beam direction can be modified in real-time by means of a multi-channel, PC-based controller.
