Power Output for Speech Reinforcement Amplifiers

Authors: Queen, Daniel

AES Convention 46 · Paper 941 · September 1973

Abstract

Recent Federal Trade Commission findings have highlighted the misuse of the -momentary power- rating for music reproduction amplifiers. However, this effort to emphasize the more meaningful -continuous power- rating has confused efforts to specify power available for speech reinforcement. Experimental evidence shows that amplifiers rated equal in -continuous power- output can differ significantly in power available.
