AB - The origin of phonocardiographic sounds has been investigated in relation to the feasibility of automatic analysis based on zero-crossing techniques. Studies using actual valves and fluidic analog methods as a means of synthesizing the phonocardiogram are described, and the design and clinical evaluation of a specialized computr for phonocardiogram analysis are presented.
