We present applications of twin microphone systems with adjustable frequency dependent directivity patterns within the creative process of professional music recording and mixing. The underlying signal processing has been implemented as a VST plugin for the use in a modern Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) environment. A number of recordings were performed in rooms with variable size and quality. Presets with benecial frequency-dependent directivities are compared to settings with constant directivity. It is discussed to what extend recordings can be further improved using the plugin.
