Reading loudspeaker advertisements, catalogs, and specifications leads one to believe that the baffle design procedure for a woofer is largely in the category of witchcraft and old wives` tales. An attempt is made to distinguish the wisdom from witchcraft in these old wives` tales by citing the hard facts learned from a computer study of the baffle problems for some twenty different woofers.
